Second season roundup

Written by Time Indaiatuba at 17:23 24/11-2017

  Targets from previous season:
  Â Â Â
  Â Â 1 - Win a race in division 9 or higher - FAILED
  Â Â 2 - Become the 3rd best team in Brazil - PASSED

Indaiatuba’s second season was one of growth and steady improvement. The team was strengthened early on with the signings of Wouter Arnolds and Hone Adams, two riders who won’t set the world alight, but provided support for the growing team.

Results came slowly at first, the team competing with riders far above their level, but captain Iago Chiarella was able to secure a number of tour points in division 7 and 8 races. The team was preparing for their first tour, the Tour of the Sanreizan, but dropped out of division 7 just days before sign up. With one chance to make it back into the division, Indaiatuba needed no less than 2nd place at Durrës – Jubë, and Chiarella duly delivered.

At the Tour of the Sanreizan, the team faced stiff competition, but was able to get a result on the final stage, Chiarella securing 6th place in the bunch sprint. Although a modest result, the team’s manager was ecstatic, as this was their highest result in any division 7 race so far.

Indaiatuba then dropped down and a series of uncontested wins in division 10 saw them climb to division 6. It was during this period that they signed future sprinting captain Roger Museveni. The team wasn’t done climbing though, as domestique Leandro Lambert was able to pull off the team’s best result thus far. A fantastic break away performance saw him take 3rd place at Brabants Mooiste, sending the team into division 5 and making them the 2nd ranked team in Brazil.

In division 5, the team was well out of their depth, focusing on racing for experience. They took part in their second tour, Fast on Wheels, but weren’t able to secure any results. It was a year of relative success but without any wins, the team will be eager to provide stronger competition next year. Rubert Smidt had a quiet year, and Museveni is ready to take over captain duties. Both of them will be itching to secure the team’s first win outside of division 10 next year.

  Â Â Â
  Â Â Points: 372
Â Â Rank: 2nd in Brazil, 317th in the world
  Â Â Wins: 3
  Â Â Total Results: 13
Â Â Rider of the year: Iago Chiarella
Â Â Best Domestique: Hone Adams

  Â Â Â
  Â Â Targets for Season 43:
  Â Â
  Â Â 1 - Win a race in division 9 or higher
  Â Â 2 – Have 2 riders with an average rating over 40
3 – Exceed this seasons number of results (13)
